Eliminating Peekers in the A Site on Ascent
Have you struggled to control VALORANT’s A bombsite on Ascent? Perhaps you’re struggling to hold off the opponents as you defend post-plant? Hey, we’ve all been there. Ascent is a tough nut to crack, especially as an attacker. While the middle region of the map is vast, enabling opportunities for early picks leading to mid control and forcing your opponents to reposition, the main areas leading to the map’s two bombsites are quite restrictive if you’re on the attacking side.
We’re going to focus on your ability to react to the plethora of angles your opponents can swiftly peek you from on bombsite A. We will do this by breaking down the logistics of playing as an attacker on Ascent and playing a task built around training you to deal with the aforementioned situations.
There are two general paths to take into Ascent’s A site as an attacker, one is through A short and “tree,” and the other is through A main. To gain access to tree, you will need to cross through catwalk into A short, which leaves you exposed to the defenders’ portion of mid. You will need to cut off the enemy team’s line of sight to cross into A short safely. This can be done by having your team’s smoker smoke off bottom mid, blocking the entrance.
Alternatively, pushing into A main doesn’t require you to expose yourself to the opposing team’s line of sight, you can start the round in A lobby and move into A main, a long corridor leading into A site. Watch out for defenders peeking from A main when the round starts who are trying to secure that quick first-blood.
The hardest part about pushing from A main into the bombsite is that the entrance is a narrow chokepoint, which is approximately one Brimstone or Omen smoke wide. The site, however, is very open, and contains several different angles at varying points of elevation that the defending team can use to their advantage while holding or retaking the site. Even if you make it through A main, you must be decisive and quick to adjust to the multiple angles you will get engaged from.
This featured task will help you sharpen your reflexes and get used to the typical positions you will be encountering defenders in while taking control of A site on Ascent.

You will be positioned in the area following A main, and given a clear view of the bombsite. Targets will emerge from common A site angles, such as generator or heaven. The bots will attempt to launch projectiles at you, deducting points from your task score, so make sure you eliminate them before they can fire.
Mastering Ascent’s A site takes precision, awareness, and confidence. Every peek, swing, and decision matters when attackers push through tight angles and open sightlines. Use VCT Spidershot to refine your reactions, learn the key defender peeks, and build the conidence needed to take control of A site with authority.
