Win More Box Fights with the Fortnite Aim Basics Routine
While Fortnite features a number of different gameplay dynamics, from building and editing to looting and positioning, your aim still makes up a good portion of the overall mechanical skill picture. It’s a core aspect of the gameplay that links all of the others together, and a part of your game that can help turn the tide if you find yourself against an opponent who may be a better builder or have a better stack heading into your battle. Designed by lowgravity56, the Fortnite Aim Basics Routine joins the rest of the Aim Basics Routines Series, with a focus on the main aim fundamentals that play into Fortnite: Flicking, Precise Tracking, Reactive Tracking, Evasive Switching, all topped off with some Game-Specific tasks.
The playlist features 11 different tasks, all designed for third-person gameplay. With the number of reps of a few of the sections, the playlist should run you just about 24 minutes, making it a great training playlist and a solid, slightly longer warm-up routine that you can play before jumping on the battle bus.

Flicking:
Twoshot Horizontalish Depth Easy TPP – This flicking task features two static targets in a deep space that spawn with little vertical separation but a lot of horizontal variety. They can also spawn closer to or farther away from the player. This is great for fundamental flicking technique and game-representative engagements that mirror the kind of distance variety you encounter in real Fortnite fights.
Fortnite 360 Strafe Shots – This dynamic flicking scenario features several targets around the player in an open arena. Targets will take three shots to eliminate, with optional player movement and ADS being available. The task is solid for training micros on targets that require more than one shot to kill, as well as for peripheral awareness, since threats can come from any direction.
Fortnite Shotgun – Rounding out the section is a dynamic flicking task featuring a fast-moving sphere bot that bounces and jumps around the player. The target will require 5 hits to eliminate, after which it respawns. It’s great for training close-quarters combat with shotguns and following a target with a realistic delay between shots, which is one of the most demanding and most important skills in Fortnite fights.

Precise Tracking:
Horizontal Wide Track Easy TPP – This precise tracking scenario features a small target that makes long, wide strafes in front of the player and bounces off the edges of the map. It primarily trains pure horizontal tracking and smoothness, with the added element of wall bouncing that requires you to adjust your tracking direction at each edge.
Fortnite Glidertrack – The next precise tracking task features several thin targets falling from the sky that must be eliminated before they reach the floor and despawn. This is great for training raw precision, peripheral awareness, and target prioritization under time pressure.

Reactive Tracking:
Fortnite Aim Duel Entry ADS – Here is a reactive tracking scenario, which is inside of a small arena that forces the awkward angles commonly encountered when box fighting in Fortnite. Player movement is enabled, making this one of the most game-representative tasks in the routine.
Fortnite 1v1 Training – This is a reactive tracking task that features an invincible, pill-shaped target that frequently strafes in front of the player and shoots back. It trains reactivity and target reading while mimicking fights against another player. Player movement is enabled, so use it.

Evasive Target Switching:
Smoothswitch Fortnite – The opening task in the switching section features several gently flying targets that surround the player. Compared to most switching scenarios, this one leans more toward tracking due to its higher time-to-kill and includes health regeneration, meaning targets must be fully eliminated before moving on. ADS and player movement are optional.
Controlswitch Fortnite – This switching scenario features more erratic, evasive targets that are flying around the player. It’s even more tracking-oriented than Smoothswitch due to the targets’ unpredictable but still readable movement patterns. Like Smoothswitch, it uses health regeneration, meaning it requires full eliminations before switching. ADS and player movement are optional.

Game-Specific and Sniping:
Ground Sniper Centered TPP – This sniping-focused scenario features moving ground targets with bullet drop. This is a skill unique to the Fortnite Aim Basics Routine compared to most other routines in the series, and one that translates directly to some of the most satisfying and impactful shots in the game.
Glide Sniper Close TPP – The final task in the routine is a sniping training scenario featuring falling targets with bullet drop. Closing the routine with two back-to-back sniping tasks means you finish each session with your long-range precision fresh and warmed up, ready to put it to work the moment you drop in.
